Born April J Nelson, AJ began her role in the entertainment arts via theater as a child in her home state of Alabama. She participated in a number, too many to count, of plays in her church growing up. She was often seen performing on stage during her school years. In addition to actually acting, she equally enjoys the many relationships that each opportunity brought. Early on, she began building a network of friends who shared her interests.When she was 16, she had her first taste of being on the set of a large film production when she was given the opportunity to play a role in the film 'The Grass Harp', directed by Charles Matthau. Although she enjoyed her small taste of the film industry very much, she felt a career in film was just out of her reach and decided to focus on her academics for the time being. AJ graduated from high school, then college, all the while continuing to act in church performances. She married at 22 and started her family soon afterward.In 2005 she continued acting but also began casting and directing local theater.In 2012, AJ was introduced to a local casting director in the Alabama film industry. She became somewhat of a mentor to AJ and arranged for her to meet with several directors and producers who taught her the "ins and outs" of the industry. In 2014 she made several trips to Atlanta to learn on a larger scale. She realized she enjoyed all aspects of film but, especially, had fallen in love with casting.In mid 2015 AJ was contracted out to cast a large web promotion project. Shortly afterward, she met the owner of a production company who saw something in her. He put her to work casting a feature film. With her drive and ambition, she became sought out by several other local filmmakers.In September of 2015 she began casting under the name AJ Casting and has since worked on several commercial and film projects. She looks forward to seeing the entertainment industry grow in her home state but is enjoying branching out into the southeast for both acting and casting. Hide
