Maria Burton, named by Variety as "talent to watch," is in post on her latest feature, For the Love of George, starring Nadia Jordan, Rex Lee, Tate Donovan, Rosanna Arquette, and Kristen Johnston. Her feature film, A Sort of Homecoming, starring Laura Marano (Austin & Ally), Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters), Parker Mack (Chasing Life), Michelle Clunie (Queer as Folk, Teen Wolf) and Kathleen Wilhoite (Gilmore Girls), was distributed by Mar Vista in 2016. She also recently completed the web series, Old Guy, starring Peri Gilpin (Frasier) and Roger Burton. Director on the feature films, Just Friends (AMC/WE), Temps (Netflix), and Manna From Heaven (MGM/Sony), she also co-directed Sign My Snarling Movie -- a documentary about the popular a cappella singing group, The Bobs; and produced The Happiest Day of His Life (MTV/Logo) and Julia Sweeney's Letting Go of God (Showtime). Burton helms her production company, Five Sisters Productions, with her real-life siblings, and also works on social and political campaigns, such as the recent "MarchingForward" video for The Representation Project and Global Girl Media; commercials for the Massachusetts General Hospital's ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic; the "Mamas for Obama" Campaign; and the Campaign for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, featuring Julia Ormond. Other directing work includes Stephen Kanner: A Retrospective, a short film about visionary architect Stephen Kanner for the A+D Museum, "ACT I" for the USA Pavilion for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, and commercials for the "Faces of Ford" Campaign for Ford Motor Company. Burton is an Emeritus Board Member of The Alliance of Women Directors, as well as Global Girl Media, an organization which celebrates and connects the voices of young women around the world through new media technologies to support social change. Burton is developing the TV pilot MidLife as well as her next feature film, a drama inspired by the "Mercury 13" women who were tested for the original astronaut program in 1961. The Burton sisters' script has been selected for the inaugural Athena List, named to the BitchList/Bechdel List 2015 and the CineStory Fellowship 2015. Hide
