Max Osterweis is an American fashion designer and former screenwriter who founded the fashion label SUNO in 2008 after witnessing post-election violence in Kenya.Born and raised in San Francisco, California. Osterweis graduated from NYU Film School.Named after Osterweis' mother, the brand SUNO established in 2008 is primarily focused on shedding light on the recent economic and political turmoil in Kenya as well as promoting to "cross decades and continents" by combining diverse textiles from Japan, Italy, and Tanzania, and infusing it with the chic style of New York City.The label is a favorite of First Lady Michelle Obama.As of 2015, Osterweis lives with his longtime partner Kate Foley in Shelter Island, New York.
