Evolution (2001)
In an attempt to recognize on the strange meteorite that lands on earth, two college professors, Dr. Ira Kane and prof Harry Phineas, who do their best, in order to examine and analyze these creatures, as they find out that they grow rapidly and threaten the lives of humanity, so they struggle against saving humanity.

Part of the problem with Evolution -- aside from the fact that it isn't really very funny -- is that it's mostly jaded; there's very little gee-whiz, almost no awe.
