Point of No Return
A strung-out junkie named Maggie (Bridget Fonda) kills a police officer during the botched robbery of a drug store and is sentenced to death by lethal injection. However, top-secret US government agent 'Bob' arranges a staged death, so Maggie can be elaborately trained as a high-tech assassin.

Fonda looks great in that little black cocktail dress, but this studio remake robs the terrific original of its soul.

Point of No Return is violent, loud, profane, angry, nasty and, in terms of its plot, often quite ridiculous. In other words, it has all the makings of a box office hit.

A remake faithful to the film upon which it is based and an intelligent, thrilling action film with a real story and solid acting.

bah. rent the French original

Hollywood, in its infinite wisdom, figures it can make better American pulp than the French can. As it turns out, Hollywood is right.

An okay remake of the better LA FEMME NIKITA. Captures the spirit, but not the intensity.
November 26, 2003
Totally unnecessary, sterile remake of LA FEMME NIKITA.
July 26, 2002
Bridget looks great, but the film is hackneyed.

It's by no means awful, but I won't re-watch it any time soon, unless I intend to gawk at Bridget Fonda.
