Considering Voyager comes in at a doorstop-worthy 1,059 pages, a considerable number of plot points often have to be crammed into a single episode. Such was the case with tonight's "First Wife," which boasts a reunion, a shooting, and a kidnapping.

I'm trying to forgive small changes because there's just so much ground to cover (literally) in the remaining five episodes of the season.

The show usually excels at believable, grounded, organic, and intimate character drama, but "First Wife" is all over the place with the character development and emotional narrative.
