The Rookie - Season 1
A series of a different genre begins with a story of John Nolan who hopes to become a police officer in Los Angeles, although he suffers a lot because he may be exposed to many confrontations. There will be some skepticism from senior officials around him who still see him as just a middle-aged crisis. If John was not able to keep up with the young policemen, he would risk the lives of everyone without knowing.

It's not anything you haven't seen a number of times before.October 16, 2018
The opening episode is smartly written, with crisp dialogue, and it sure has charm. Fillion is enormously likeable here.October 15, 2018
If anyone but Fillion tossed out a line so smothered in schmaltz, you'd either laugh or groan. But Mr. Likable nails it and largely nails this comfy, corny and (yup) likable pilot, too.October 16, 2018
It's kind of fun to have a series more interested in building out a large ensemble of characters, where the cases are secondary to the characters bouncing off each other.October 16, 2018
ABC sorely needs a surefire hit, and The Rookie looks like the best bet to deliver as a cop drama with a sometimes unsteady aim.October 16, 2018
Fillion grounds The Rookie with just enough wry humor and low-key charisma to lift the formula, and he gets yeoman support from a diverse ensemble of rookies, training officers and bosses.October 17, 2018
The Rookie is just good enough to be a show you can watch without taxing your brain all that much. And sometimes you just need shows like that in your life.October 16, 2018
It's a breezy drama that doesn't demand much from the viewer, but Fillion's easy charm is tough to dismiss.October 16, 2018
Kicking off the series with a laughable setup is never good.October 16, 2018
The Rookie seems destined to test the limits of [Fillion's] charm, in a show where the shaky imagery can't obscure that we've seen every beat here before.
