The bona fide Archer is still in bed, though we can only presume that much. The new season doesn't even bother checking in with him before it's off and running in its own fantasy.

Beyond just the characters too, the season's central plot and themes are too scattered and aimless for about one and a half episodes.
April 26, 2018
It's every bit as bonkers as it sounds. And Archer is still as clever as ever.

The folks behind Archer are rightly confident in their ability to meld the show's sensibilities to these new environs.

Funny as some of the one liners and non sequiturs are, Danger Island feels remarkably light and inessential in the grand scheme of things.

Nothing signifies the weird swerve Adam Reed and company are doing with this season of Archer better than Crackers The Macaw, the latest addition to the show's cast of consistently dysfunctional characters.

Danger Island is a follow-up spring break in Miami. There's still pleasures to be had, but it's all a bit hollow...undercutting of all prior narrative stakes is very Archer, but it's also a little disappointing for those looking for any resolution.

Archer remains the same terrific spoof it's always been, even as it shifts from a spy satire to a jokey, adventure homage.
