The series begins with a group of criminals being held in California Prison, the home of Charles Manson. These real criminals give teenagers a taste of life on the ground, where any prisoner can approach children and give them a sense of life risk in prison, which seems pathetic.

What's also a little disconcerting is that these girls seem to think that being on TV is a big enough achievement that the reason doesn't matter. That's a pretty scary thought itself - but not as scary as Valley State.
