Falling Skies - Season 5
The series goes back to a wide range of dramatic drama and adventure. The fifth season begins with a new set of events, most notably Tom's life hanging in the balance as he drifts into space in which he encounters a surprise guest. Meanwhile, the second Massacre continues in the attack against Espinn. On the other hand, a sudden attack of skiers leaves the second mass without food. In desperation, Maggie, Ben, Pope, and Sarah go on a dangerous mission hoping to find supplies. Along the way, they encountered a severely scarred family by the Espheni plan. Maggie must make false promises to ensure the survival of the second mass.

Tom's inner rage bubbling to the surface definitely brought a new kind of energy to the show. His no nonsense attitude is certainly refreshing even if it can be a bit scary at times.

It benefits from the resolution that many shows don't get, and sits comfortably and competently in the Spielberg TV pantheon.

I was underwhelmed by Falling Skies' return largely because I was so impressed by the Season 4 finale. It promised us a new world. I'm still waiting for my new world.

Although Falling Skies is a pretty lean, mean, combat machine, with some first-rate visual-effects work, the producers have also incorporated plenty of soapy elements.

With the human death toll continuing to rise, even significant wins against the Espheni are coming at too high a price. It feels like an ever-increasing game of high-stakes chess, and there are only so many pawns left on the board.
