Glee - Season 5
Season 5 shows the reigning champion WMHS glee club finishing second at nationals before the club is permanently disbanded for school budget reasons, leaving the focus on graduation and the alumni for the remainder of the series. Throughout this season, the club and its alumni deal with relationships; death and mourning; body image, gay bashing, intimacy, and other social issues.

To one degree or another, I was embarrassed for all the actors reaching beyond their talents to try to save bad writing and, far too often, delivering crying jags that rang completely false and hollow.

"Love Love Love" isn't much of an episode, much less a premiere, but it's one hell of an antacid.

It's wonderful to see that, despite the difficulties, the show has come back better than last year (for now) and apparently with a new spring in its step.

Overall, tonight was as awkward as expected. While it was a decent and typical Glee return, there's a sadness sort of looming over the show now. I'm interested to see where we'll go from here.
