All in all How to Make It had us interested. Primarily because we are in love with Bryan [Greenberg] and would watch him do just about anything.

It takes a while to catch on to each character's motivations, and the no-frills script doesn't do a lot of hand-holding. But by the end of the first episode... you feel certain that America may, in fact, be going somewhere.

Everyone in How to Make It isn't a winner. But the show looks to be just that.

[It] attempts to hide the fact that it is simply uninspired, barely obscuring that fact with its trend-setting music choices (there is already a free mixtape ready to download on the show's site), anti-fashion clothing, and street talk.

It never feels genuine, just generic. It's so blatantly cut from the same pattern as Entourage, merely made with inferior fabric.

I think How to Make It in America has a lot going for it, if show creator Ian Edelman can keep from indulging in New York hipster cliches.

A loose and affectless (but not devoid-of-charm) half-hour, How to Make It in America is either a mostly laugh-less comedy, or an entirely stakes-free drama.

The road is not easy to travel... There is a fine line between a realistic show that follows characters throughout their day while still being compelling and the show being boring.

I had few expectations for the series, in part because of the lack of buzz from HBO, and I found myself pleasantly surprised by the early episodes.

This sad sack of a show plays like an East Coast, economically challenged version of his HBO hit "Entourage."
