The finale actually saw [Sheldon] doing something on his own, providing a surprising-and extremely refreshing-bit of character development to cap off the season.

Balance is a tough thing in comedy, and a lot of TV's best sitcoms this fall have had issues keeping all their elements in check. But when you get a half-hour like this where everything's working in harmony, it's a real pleasure.

The Big Bang Theory is now pretty well established, within a relatively short number of years, as the natural successor to Cheers and Friends. And just gets ever better.

Luckily, the major strides made with Sheldon, Penny, and Leonard compensate for some of the more distasteful humor, making this a strong start for this show's seventh season.

The focus was on breaking the rest of the group into pairs and sending them on different misadventures together. I enjoyed that these pairings were slightly less traditional.

Any chance to see Bob Newhart is a chance that needs to be taken, especially on one of television's smartest shows.
