In the Ninth season, the events are quite different. The season starts with the president, who talks to many mob leaders and tells them he knows who among them are secret agents sent by the government. He offers to redeem them for a fee. But one Texas-based Cardozo refuses, but when the president tells him that a senator in Dallas is meeting Alex about how to deal with him, he claims he does not bother him.
