"R&I" isn't any fluffy, girl power, shoot 'em up, but a gritty and occasionally gruesome drama that delves into the unpleasant side of humanity while keeping suspense and surprises alive.

Rizzoli & Isles is kind of a mess of a show. There are interesting elements around the edges, but the writing is just dire.

Rizzoli & Isles features a good dose of humor and a lean style of storytelling that's reflected in the fairly small core group with which we will apparently be working.

The crime-driven material is familiar and, because of the book condensing, hurried and mystery-free, while at least in the early going, attempts at levity aren't working at all.

It's a compelling enough tale, with Harmon projecting just the right amount of fear and defiance and Isles a complementary mixture of comfort and good sense.

You cannot even call Rizzoli & Isles run of the mill, it being that mills usually run more smoothly.
